Introduction

Navy Seals we are not. But when YHC heard about the workout called “the Murph” I couldn’t get it out of my head. I realized the only way to shake the murph fever was to do the murph.

Warm-O-Rama

Started off with a little Mosey from our beloved Shovel Flag over to the opposite corner of the parking lot past the No Dumping Allowed Dumpsters (Delta Deuce I’m looking at you).
SSH for a 11 count. Weed Pickers for a 9 count. Windmills for an 11 count. Al Gore tree huggers for just enough time to feel the Bern. Baby Arm Circles to finish out.

The Thang

“the Murph”
Or should I say “the Smurph” because it was a sad little blue version of the true Murph. Maybe some day…Truthfully I think our group can handle it but we needed about 15 more minutes to finish out the full workout.

1 Mile mosey around our parking lot, 4 passes by our symbol of work and freedom. YHC felt very chipper today but still got gassed and passed by Bear Arse on the last lap. Short recovery walk to the playground, or as YHC likes to call it, the “workground”.
10 pullups, 20 Merkins, 30 Air Squats on your own. Rinse and Repeat 6 times (should have been 10, but again, time…)
Short recovery walk to the football field.
1 Mile Mosey around the football field. At this point our PAX began to separate greatly in terms of pace. But no one stopped, everyone kept moving and that is the mark of a warrior, the heart of a Murph.
True to F3 form we all converged ON THE 6 and finished out together (minus QT, also true to form, who left AT 6)
Continue Mosey from football field on to our beloved beacon of liberty for 3 minutes of Mary to close out.

Circle of Trust

Name O Rama and 6th Man Commando retelling the story of his namesake. Our FNG Alex G stepped into the COT still catching his breath from the BD. Left the COT triumphant with the new name Shock Wave (to find out why come Wednesday and ask him yourself!)
I had on my heart to share today about the lie that we believe as men that slowly turns us into sad clowns. We believe for one reason or another that only we can meet our needs. We become self reliant, prideful, impatient, isolated, and lacking joy. All because we refuse to allow others to help us, meet our needs, and in turn practice meeting their needs as well. And the saddest part of the sad clown is that we learn over time to refuse help and comfort from our Heavenly Father, choosing to go it alone and meet our own needs without him.
Antidote is community, vulnerability, trust, and ultimately changing our belief system to reflect the truth that we not only can and should, but are DESIGNED to live in dependence on God and others. When this happens, its a beautiful thing and WE ALL WIN.

Naked Man Moleskin

YHC was honored to Q the PAX today. Such an awesome group of guys and such an encouragement to YHC. I am grateful for the changes I have seen in my health over time both physically and emotionally and spiritually as I continue to “lean in to others” (thanks DD for your message yesterday) at the Asylum at a time when many other men are fart sacking. Proud of each of you that made it today. As Streak would say this was the hardest thing you have to do today. Everything else should be easy.
