Mind over matter. The 100 step ups at a time on the half wall were a challenge. More challenging than one thinks. The Jack Webb’s were more challenging than one thinks. This workout was based on something that happened last week:
So YHC is at the lake. Time to get out of the lake. The dock does NOT have a ladder and is elevated about 1 1/2 feet above the water. It requires incredible upper body strength to get out of the water using the dock because the water pulls down. One elbow, 2nd elbow, pull yourself up, put right leg on dock and bring the rest of your body up.
1st time- couldn’t do it- had to use a float to get out. So YHC is on the dock dried off and YHC sees 2 teenage girls get out via the dock (weigh a lot less than YHC), granted they struggled but they still got out. YHC helped 3 other people get out. YHC’s wife, kids, and nieces were there. YHC said if those girls can do it YHC can do it. It’s called pride. YHC’s wife rolled her eyes. So YHC jumped back in the water, swam to the dock, mustered all strength and pulled up out of the water. It was awesome. YHC told the kiddos the moral of the story is one can do anything if they put their mind to it. YHC’s niece said, “No, the moral is that pride is bad.” She is 8 years old. Very wise. Mind over matter and pride is bad!!!! We get to do this!!!!
