Introduction

When 9 Rochettes get together, as a band of brothers, and try to go up an escalator…It can be quite comical, yet challenging. These 9 PAX showed up to get after it this morning and to become better. They are now one step closer to their goals of being a better dad, husband, brother, and Christian, as well as closer to reaching their fitness goals.

Warm-O-Rama

The Warm-O-Rama started with Abe Vigoda to warm up those arms and then quickly went into Side, Straddle, Hops. Following those, we did some high kicks by doing Harry Rockettes into Weed Pickers. We finished this section of Warm-O-Rama by doing some Merkins. This was just the beginning…

We moseyed over to another parking lot nearby and continued warming up. We did “Bone the Fish”. This exercise consisted of a shuffle, sprint, shuffle, sprint, back pedal, and then a sprint forward into 10 Merkins. We did this two times so that we were sure to be warmed up for The Thang.

The Thang

We moseyed over to the baseball pavilion and moved into The Thang, which was called “Escalator”. This exercise consisted of reps of 10 fence jumps, 15 box jumps, 20 Merkins, 25 Side, Straddle, Hops, and then 30 squats. After completing each of these exercises, each PAX ran around the pavilion in a circle one time. This would have brought them back to their starting spot to then do another round of “Escalator”. Each PAX did 4 rounds and some even did 5. If a PAX finished early, they were asked to do a 2 minute plank or to join in with the men that were finishing up.

At this point it was 6:08. We moved into an exercise called “Annie”, which is a low plank while “cleaning the floor” with your right hand and then we switched to “cleaning the floor” with our left hands. We finished The Thang with a high plank for 2 minutes.

At the end, me moseyed back to the flag for 5 minutes of abs. I started off this section with Boat/Canoe. Each Pax was asked to start in the boat position by keeping their knees tucked into their chest with their heels off of the ground. If I said, “canoe”, they laid down with their feet 6 inches off of the ground until I switched back to “boat”… The next 4 minutes we went around the circle for each Pax to give us some ab exercises.

Circle of Trust

In the Circle-Of-Trust we prayed for our words to be edifying to our Lord and Savior and to use our words to point others towards Christ and towards an eternity with Him. We also prayed for our friend, brother, and F3 member GoPro. His daughter has been in the hospital in Florida for a week and they are returning today with answers and a healthy girl.

Naked Man Moleskin

I then shared some words from a pastor on Sunday morning and ended with a visual for us all to have at the forefront of our minds throughout the day. The verses that I quoted were from James 3:6-12, which says, “6 The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.7 All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and sea creatures are being tamed and have been tamed by mankind, 8 but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.9 With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness.10 Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be. 11 Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? 12 My brothers and sisters, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.

My charge for each PAX was this…

When I was a child, our family physician used to ask us to stick out our tongues. (That was the only circumstance in which I was ever permitted to do that!) He seemed to be able to tell a great deal about our health by looking into our mouths. That is a parable of spiritual reality. What comes out of our mouths is usually an accurate index of the health of our hearts. Jesus said: “For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks” (Matthew 12:34). So here, as a spiritual physician, James engages in a rigorous tongue analysis. James 3:1–12 is a veritable pathology laboratory in which analysis and diagnosis take place.

SOOOO… people can tell a lot by “looking” at our mouts and our tongue. Be a man that builds others up when they are around and when they are not around.
