Introduction
The stockings are hung. The tree up at last.
Time to leave 6 PAX utterly gassed.
Warm-O-Rama
Our journey began with a quick little jog.
The wintry air made one wish for a yule log.
To the field we galloped, our spirits were high.
None truly knew what torment ahead lie.
“Take a lap!” said the Q, as he set up the sign.
Then, “Circle up!”, disclaimer, Weed pickers were fine.
Followed by high knees, in cadence we counted.
Then arm circles and pretzels, no muscles discounted.
We finished with a new one called Reindeer Webb.
It was squats and calf raises, which we grew to dread.
Once the warmup was done, it was time for the Thang.
One look at the poster and all said, “Dang….”
The Thang
12 Days of Christmas is what we completed
Lots of blood, sweat and tears were valiantly secreted.
Day one was a sprint to the 50 and back.
Day two was star jumps, a favorite of Yak’s.
For the third we did slalom ski abs galore.
Lunges were on tap for the day called four.
Finally, thankfully, day five if you please,
Consisted of five glorious, beautiful, inspiring burpees.
Day six came along, with sit-ups to do.
Then seven Makhtar’s – but which arm? You choose.
Day eight we returned to our wonderful squats.
Nine merkins were next, which felt like a lot(s?).
Three days to go, hang in there gents!
A brand new exercise awaits for day ten.
Monkey Hoppers was the name for our new endeavor.
Grab your ankles and jump! Ten times for good measure.
Day eleven we turned to Nolan Ryan’s.
Side plank, then punch! Try to keep from cryin’.
Day twelve brought a visit from a good, close friend.
Bonnie Blair was her name, fitting for the end.
The PAX were smoked, the Q was dead.
No plums or fairies danced in their heads.
But bodies were stronger, eyes a bit glossy,
For the days were done, and it was time for coffee.
Circle of Trust
Spooner asked a question, “Oculus or no?”
Opinions were shared, wisdom will show.
Prayed for brothers, near and far,
Then walked together, back to the cars.
Focus on kindness this time of year.
So much to do, so much to hear.
Keep showing up, keep doing your part.
Let’s be men with fierce love in our good hearts.
