The Thang

Bear Arse shook the world last month when he opened with Mary, and YHC was bummed he missed out on that, so we are going backwards to kick off the Beatdown! We start with five minutes of Mary … and it was glorious (and painful, especially Gadget’s dying cockroach!)

Quick mosey around the parking lot and to the field we go. YHC is not a fan of the grass or the exercises usually done on the grass, but YHC is trying to push himself out of his comfort zone, so we start on the grass!

Bear crawl to light pole, run to other side; standing jumps to the light pole, run to the other side; crab walk to the light pole, run to the other side; inchworm to the light pole, run to the other side. Inchworm was introduced by YHC’s daughter, and needs some modification. Appreciate the PAX giving it a go!

Did that twice and then a quick mosey to the playground for some more fun! Split into two groups and alternated the following:

Merkins/Pullups
Lunges/Wall Sits
Step Ups/Burpees

YHC appreciated the group aspect of this and loved how the PAX went boy band on our first set of lunges and straight up zombie apocalypse on the second set. Speaking of second set, we only had four minutes remaining so we cut each set in half, and hustled to get through all three sets. YHC was impressed at the effort of each man today! They wanted to get all of the second set, and it showed.

Circle of Trust

YHC gave a quick chat about what’s been weighing on him and motivating him the past couple weeks. “Push Yourself. Surprise Yourself.” Yes, it applies to our beatdowns, but also to everything in life. Nothing amazing happens in your comfort zone … true change and truly knowing what you are capable of comes when you take those first couple steps into the unknown. Commando introduced a new way to end a prayer and I think it was a huge success … no more fists, put your hand on the shoulder of the PAX to your right.

Naked Man Moleskin

I continue to be amazed at our group and how well it is coming together. This isn’t easy, and yet we are crushing it. Celebrate that! YHC enjoys every morning with you men and getting out of bed at 445 is becoming easier and easier. Thank you for pushing me and inspiring me to be better!
