Introduction
Big group this morning! Notable no shows are Kathmandid (who hasn’t been back since my last BD) and Dakotoes (Gadget says he’s hanging out in the bathroom – sounds like he hung out with Bud, Miller, Jack, Jim or Jose too much last night)
Warm-O-Rama
Fast-paced (sorry, QT) mosey down to the lower lot for some:
Weed pickers
Slooooooow Hillbillies
Windmills
Arm circles forward
Arm circles back
Arm pretzels
(10 of everything)
The Thang
After the warm-up, we converted the 5 points to only 4 points and picked a partner. The 50+50 reps listed below were completed in whatever set and rep combination worked for each member.
Station 1
50 squats
50 big boy situps
Bear Crawl left side to the next station
Station 2
50 Crab kicks
50 lunges (since I’m so nice, you can do ANY kind of lunge – step forward, step back, walking – whatever you want!) Each leg = 1 rep (also because I’m so nice)
Alligator walk to next station
Station 3
50 Mountain climbers (each leg = 1 leg because…you know why)
OR
25 Double Mountain Climbers – it’s a choose your adventure at Station 3!
PLUS
50 SSH
Bear Crawl right side to the next station
Station 4
50 Push-ups
50 Tuck jumps (or 50 In and Outs if you’re all out of knee cushioning)
Inch worm back to Station 1
Round 1 was best ball. As soon as each group completed 50 and 50, move to the next station. (exception is squats – everyone completes 50 squats this round)
Round 2 is worst ball. As soon as both people in the group completed 50 and 50, move to the next station. Keep working while your partner finishes.
Round 3 is teamwork. Get 50 and 50 together by whatever math works for your group. (exception is squats – everyone completes 50 squats this round)
I’m pretty sure that everyone completed 2 rounds and a few groups started the 3rd round. As we wrapped up, we made sure everyone had the opportunity for 150 squats and we also realized that Jerky didn’t make it the entire session. I’m not sure when he left, but the last thing I remember him saying was something about rolling around on the ground.
Heading back to the flag, Bear Arse led the way back and pulled us all along. I think he must be pretty excited about being the Q on Wednesday (if he actually shows up this time).
Circle of Trust
Continue to pray for Casper’s wife. They were very appreciative of our gift for them.
Swedish Ham’s got some work stuff going on – good luck with the new opportunities!
Naked Man Moleskin
Most of us raced through the first round to see who could get done first and move on to the next exercise or station since it was best ball (as least I did). You wanted to be the gazelle and set the pace; have everyone chase you.
During the second round, you had the option of being annoyed that you had to do extra work since our partner was slowing you down and keeping you from moving on. You also had the option of motivating and encouraging your partner through the second round. Or as the follower, you were fighting to keep up with the faster partner – hopefully the leader was the latter of the previous options.
During the third round, you worked with your partner to accomplish the goal by adding your reps together to get to the 50+50. You even had the option to do more than 25 reps in order to help your partner!
As I was building on QT’s comments from earlier this year about slowing down and not getting too busy, he’s scrambling all over the circle setting up pictures, skipping count downs and prayers, telling us how late he is going to be to work today. A perfect example of what he and I are trying to NOT do. Remember to slow down and look out for the other guy, help the other guy, use your talents and possessions for the other guy’s benefit. It’s not all about us – look to the Cross.
