The Thang

Quick mosey over to one tree hill‘s little brother. On the plateau we had some high intensity interval‘s to do.

Up downs 1 min
Crab cakes 1 min
Clerkins 1 min
Split squats 1 min
Recover 1 min

Rinse and repeat four times

The catch:
During this whole time while the group was doing intervals, one PAX had to break away for a rotation with “the rock” (55lb)
This entailed going to the bottom of the hill grabbing the 55 pound rock and running back up the hill with it. When you got to the top of the hill PAX were instructed to toss it back down the hill again For the next PAX to retrieve. This carried on throughout the work out except during rest interval.

I’m not exactly sure which was harder the rock or the intervals but I do believe I heard sufficient groaning to know that I did a good job with this one.

Circle of Trust

The idea for today’s workout came from the Greek myth about Sisyphus. He was the guy that cheated death twice and was so mischievous and cunning that Zeus banned him to an eternity of rolling a rock up the hill. Every time he would get to the top it would roll back down. This myth has been used to illustrate the absurdity of life and the insanity of trying something over and over expecting a different result.
The way I see it life without Christ looks a lot like Sisyphus. We’re by ourselves trying to do it on our own in her own power and it can just be so frustrating and so discouraging. But if we’re willing to allow Jesus Christ to carry our burdens for us not only will we experience true joy and freedom, but we will also be able to carry the burdens of our brothers in arms. Gucci mentioned the Jocko Willink video on Sisyphus where he very dramatically says the goal is not the top of the hill, the goal is pushing the rock. And if the rock didn’t fall back down on its own I’d push it down myself.

Naked Man Moleskin

I expected one thing to split today: the split squats.
Three other things I did not expect to split: my headlamp, my thumb, the rock.
Thanks Cheer Dad for putting an end to the misery of the whole rock and securing the certainty of an even bigger rock in the future. Ha ha!
