Introduction

Just like Elsa, we go into the unknown.

Warm-O-Rama

The gloom was in full force this morning with dense fog. It was a balmy 43 degrees. Spirits were high (not unlike Swedish Ham in most pictures) and there were jovial discussions around bowel movements in India. Kathmandid informed everyone that you have to be on the lookout for stray dogs who may want a little snack. QT decided it wouldn’t be so bad….like an old fashioned bidet. Mercifully, 5:30 arrived.

Mosey around lot and to the main road. Continue down to tennis court sign. Circle up.

More jovial discussion, this time around Bear Arse’s amazing gloves. They reminded the PAX of the late and great Michael Jackson. At one point, QT was even moon walking across the warm-up circle.

The Thang

We grabbed the 7 coupons (35 lb. cinder blocks) and headed down the road toward the tennis courts. We took a left past One Tree Hill onto the Road to Nowhere. It was REALLY dark and gloomy once we got off the main road. Headed all the way down to the dam.

Doing elevens this morning with a slight twist. PAX will do one squat, run across the dam, do 10 overhead presses (or merkins), run back, 2 squats, run, 9 presses, etc.

The twist is that all seven coupons had to travel with the PAX. Because we had eleven HIM’s, we could share the workload of carrying the coupons. Around set 6, YHC instructed the PAX to leave one coupon at the start of each set. By the last round, we only had to carry two coupons down and back.

Finished up, went up and over One Tree Hill, returned the coupons, and moseyed back to flag. 0615 on the dot.

Circle of Trust

Count-o-rama (Bear Arse had to leave early), Name-o-rama.

YHC talked about the imagery built into the workout. First, we can and should help carry each other’s burdens. When you were fortunate enough to do a set with no coupon, you should be looking for the guy that needs a break. The PAX did GREAT as sharing the load. Likewise, in life, when we feel like our burden isn’t too heavy, let’s get our eyes up and look for those around us who might need a little help.

Second, we weren’t created to carry cinder blocks. They are awkward and it’s hard to run with them. It’s the same in life. God didn’t design us to carry all of this stuff around that we often carry around. That’s why it sometimes feels like we are stumbling and limping through life. Let’s learn to ask God to show us the things that are hindering us and slowing us down. Then let’s ask how to get some of that off so that we can run the way we were meant to.

Prayers for Kathmandid as he asks for time off at a new job. Prayers for Jalopy as he works through a difficult transition period. Praise for Swedish Ham being able to work through a tough relationship conversation.

Naked Man Moleskin

Incredible work this morning boys. Some of my favorite moments:

1. QT absolutely busting it across the dam carrying a coupon…on round 6!
2. GaDgEt carrying GaDgEt jR. around.
3. GaDgEt jR. letting me know that it WAS dark, but it WAS NOT creepy. #nothingtofear
4. DakoToes busting it across the dam when he wasn’t burdened by a coupon.

I continue to be inspired each and every time I get out in the gloom.

I was also inspired to look at the cost of gas masks for the PAX. The dense fog did nothing to dissipate a QT special during the COT. I thought Kathmandid might actually merlot.

SYITG!
